Eden Hazard, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger, has officially declared his retirement from the professional football world at the age of 32. The Belgian maestro, known for his dazzling skill and trophy-laden career, has decided to hang up his boots due to a series of debilitating injuries that have plagued his time at Real Madrid.

Hazard's journey through the beautiful game began in France with Lille, where he scored 50 goals in 149 appearances. His incredible performances helped Lille secure a domestic double, winning both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France in the 2010-11 season. His talents didn't go unnoticed, and in 2012, he made the move to Chelsea for a reported fee of £32 million

At Stamford Bridge, he became a club legend, making 352 appearances and netting 110 goals. He was a crucial part of the Chelsea squad that clinched two Premier League titles and won numerous other accolades, including the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2014-15. His farewell to Chelsea was marked with a memorable goal in the 2019 Europa League final against Arsenal.

In 2019, Hazard made a high-profile transfer to Real Madrid, where he experienced a mixed bag of success and disappointment. He added to his impressive trophy collection, winning the Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups during his time in the Spanish capital. However, his tenure was marred by recurring injuries, and he struggled to find consistent form.

Hazard's struggles with injuries eventually led to his decision to step away from the sport. He acknowledged the importance of listening to one's body and deciding to stop at the right time in a statement posted on Instagram. His career spanned 16 years and over 700 matches, during which he realized his dream and had the opportunity to play on some of the world's most renowned pitches.

Notably, Hazard had already retired from international football in December the previous year after Belgium's early exit from the 2022 World Cup. His international career was equally remarkable, earning 126 caps and scoring 33 goals for his country. He featured in three World Cups and two European Championships and even captained the team on 56 occasions.

The retirement of Eden Hazard signifies the conclusion of a significant era in football. His grace on the field and his ability to conjure moments of magic will be fondly remembered by fans worldwide. As he bids farewell to the game, the footballing world expresses its gratitude for the memories and the joy he brought to the sport. Eden Hazard will undoubtedly be missed, but his legacy will live on in the annals of football history.
